Welcome to the Accessible Courts InitiativeThere are over 54 million Americans living with some form of disability.
All of these people have the right to participate in and be given equal access to our legal system. With this in mind, the Center for Legal and Court Technology has teamed up with the American Foundation for the Blind and, with generous grant support from the NEC Foundation of America, has created the Accessible Courts Initiative (ACI). ACI's goal is to eliminate the barriers that exist between people with disabilities and the nation's state and federal courts.
Experts in the fields of law, technology and disability advocacy have assembled to provide customized, prioritized solutions to purveyors of the justice system. The ACI team is available for the review of public-facing websites to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, for in-house accessibility sensitizing for existing facilities, and to offer ongoing support and consultation for specific issues or new programs.
